Council Gardens

• Rentals are available for low- and moderate-income households in which at least one member is 62 years old, or for mobility impaired adults over 18.
• The 2023 income limits are: for a one-person household $50,650 and for a two-person household $57,850.
• Rent includes gas, electricity, and water. Spectrum bulk basic cable is available at $10.00 a month.
• The tenant’s portion of the rent is determined by his or her income and out of pocket medical expenses; it is approximately 30 percent of the household income.
• HUD pays the difference between the market rent and the tenant’s payment.

Our tenants can:

• Tend to our lush vegetable, fruit, and flower gardens, or just watch as they grow.
• Enjoy trips or if you prefer to stay in, participate in our programs and activities.
• Get a book (including audiobooks) from our lending library or book exchange program.
• Take an exercise class and go to the pool.
• Celebrate holiday events with friends, enjoy music concerts and the latest movies or play a board game.

Pets are welcome in all our units.

Our tenants have an opportunity to:

• Workout in the Wellness Class.
• Improve health and physical strength by exercising on indoor and outdoor equipment.
• Swim at the Mandel JСС and Cumberland Pools (transportation provided).
• Work in individual and community gardens.
• Enjoy organically grown vegetables, fruits, and berries.
• Socialize with friends at by-weekly nutritious and delicious branches

Our tenants can attend various classes and learning groups like:

• Creative Writing Group
• Conversational English classes
• Social Groups
